ANASTASIOS D. KANELLOPOULOS

Dr. Anastasios D. Kanellopoulos is a renowned Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon based in Marousi, Greece. He specialises in advanced pediatric orthopaedic care and is fellowship-trained in Pediatric Orthopedics. Dr. Kanellopoulos is an active member of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America, bringing his expertise to both local and international patients.

His primary clinical interests include pediatric orthopaedic trauma, limb lengthening, deformity correction, and complex foot deformity management. Dr. Kanellopoulos is also dedicated to treating neuromuscular conditions, including cerebral palsy, where he has introduced selective percutaneous myofascial lengthening (SPML). This minimally invasive procedure allows for immediate rehabilitation without hospital stays.

Dr. Kanellopoulos has pioneered several innovative treatments in Greece. He was the first to introduce the Ponseti method for clubfoot correction and has led advancements in closed reduction and percutaneous fixation for supracondylar humeral fractures. He also introduced flexible and rigid nailing techniques for forearm and femur fractures. In 2016, he was the first in Greece to apply the fully implantable Precise nail for limb lengthening and deformity correction. His groundbreaking work includes the Taylor Spatial Frame, a state-of-the-art external fixator for three-dimensional correction of fractures and long bone deformities.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Kanellopoulos has contributed extensively to orthopaedic literature and taught undergraduate and postgraduate students at the Medical School of the University of Athens. He continues to train young orthopaedic residents, sharing his knowledge and experience.

Dr. Kanellopoulos heads the Department of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery at Iaso Children’s Hospital in Athens, where he provides cutting-edge, compassionate care to his young patients.
