Dr. Andreas Matheou

Dr. Andreas Matheou is a highly skilled obstetrician and gynaecologist based in Paphos, Cyprus, with a deep commitment to providing excellent care for women. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2014 and embarked on a diverse and expansive medical career. His journey in medicine began with a year-long residency in General Surgery at the B University Clinic of the Hippocratic Hospital of Thessaloniki.

Dr. Matheou’s passion for gynaecology took him to Germany, where he spent time at the St Anna Hospital in Herne, participating in and attending numerous laparoscopic surgeries. This experience laid the foundation for his future specialisation in laparoscopic gynaecological surgery, an area he would later develop a strong interest in. After working as a resident in obstetrics and gynaecology at the renowned Aachen hospital, Dr. Matheou returned to Greece in 2016, where he spent two years as a resident in obstetrics and gynaecology at the General Hospital of Serres.

Following this, he worked for a year as a rural doctor at Kandanos Hospital in Chania, providing invaluable medical services in a challenging and resource-limited environment. Dr. Matheou’s dedication to his specialty saw him return to Cyprus in 2019, where he successfully topped the Pancyprian exams for specialty positions and worked for two years at Makarios Hospital in Nicosia, gaining further expertise in obstetrics and gynaecology.

In May 2022, Dr. Matheou passed the examinations for qualification in obstetrics and gynaecology, further cementing his professional standing in the field. His areas of expertise encompass emergency obstetrics and gynaecology, pregnancy monitoring, laparoscopic gynaecological surgery, and endoscopy. He is also well-versed in treating menstrual disorders, infertility, and urogynaecology, offering comprehensive care for a wide range of gynaecological concerns.

Dr. Matheou opened his private clinic at Iasis Hospital in Paphos in September 2022, providing high-quality obstetric and gynaecological services under the framework of the GESY health system. With a particular interest in laparoscopic surgery, Dr. Matheou ensures that his patients receive the most advanced and minimally invasive treatments available. Whether providing routine care or managing more complex conditions, Dr. Matheou’s approach to patient care is compassionate and professional, aiming to enhance the health and wellbeing of every woman he treats.
