Dr. Dimitra Georgiou

Dr. Dimitra Georgiou is a highly trained Consultant Gynaecologist and Obstetrician, specialising in Endometriosis and Advanced Minimally Invasive Gynaecological Surgery. She is a skilled robotic surgeon and expert in gynaecological ultrasound, with a strong background in both clinical practice and academic research. Dr. Georgiou completed her undergraduate training at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, before moving to the UK for her postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She was part of a structured training programme at Leeds University Hospitals, where she gained invaluable experience, particularly in Endometriosis and advanced laparoscopic surgery. In 2016, she became a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) and went on to achieve the prestigious UK Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in 2018, marking the completion of her seven-year specialty training.

Throughout her 13 years of training in the UK, Dr. Georgiou had the opportunity to work alongside some of the leading gynaecologists and gynaecological oncology surgeons, allowing her to develop expertise in a wide range of gynaecological conditions. She was particularly focused on minimally invasive surgery, Endometriosis, and advanced gynaecological ultrasound. Dr. Georgiou further honed her skills by completing a two-year sub-specialty fellowship in Endometriosis and Advanced Minimally Invasive Gynaecological Surgery at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, along with advanced gynaecological ultrasound training at King’s College Hospital in London. She became proficient in performing laparoscopic, robotic, and hysteroscopic surgeries, and gained specialisation in Open and Minimally Invasive Gynaecological Surgery, Endometriosis excision, and the management of complex benign conditions such as fibroids and ovarian cysts.

Dr. Georgiou has worked as a Consultant Gynaecologist and Obstetrician at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital and King’s College Hospital, where she led and managed complex surgeries and high-risk pregnancies. She has become one of the foremost experts in Endometriosis surgery in Cyprus, bringing her expertise in robotic and laparoscopic techniques to the forefront. Her clinical practice is focused on providing advanced care for complex gynaecological conditions, high-risk obstetrics, and infertility, while also offering exceptional care for early-stage gynaecological cancers. Dr. Georgiou’s expertise in interpreting her own ultrasound scans has further enhanced her ability to offer precise and effective treatment to her patients.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Georgiou is passionate about research and has published over 15 peer-reviewed articles in respected medical journals. She frequently presents her work at national and international congresses and regularly lectures on gynaecological surgery and ultrasound. She is dedicated to providing evidence-based, patient-centred care, with a focus on empowering women to make informed decisions about their health.
