Dr. Dimitris Tsoukalas is a highly esteemed board-certified family physician, scientific director of the Metabolomic Medicine® Medical Group, and the president of the European Institute of Molecular Medicine. He is also an associate member of the World Academy of Sciences. With clinics based in Athens, Greece, and Milan, Italy, Dr. Tsoukalas is widely recognized as a pioneer in the prevention and treatment of autoimmune and chronic conditions such as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, systemic lupus erythematosus, multiple sclerosis, psoriasis, Crohn’s disease, and ulcerative colitis. Dr. Tsoukalas graduated in 1991 from the Medical School of the Università degli Studi di Napoli, Federico II in Italy. He then completed his specialization in General and Family Medicine at the Hippocrates Hospital of Athens in 2000. In 2013, he further advanced his expertise by completing the Update Course for General & Internal Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Over the course of his career, Dr. Tsoukalas has made significant contributions to primary health care, earning an Honorable Mention from the Greek Ministry of Health for his work in this field.
As a recognised leader in his field, Dr. Tsoukalas is the author of the best-selling book “How to Live 150 Years in Health,” which has been published in Greek, English, and Italian. He is also a prominent figure in the scientific community, having published over 50 peer-reviewed studies. His research and work have earned him a reputation as a key speaker at international medical conferences, particularly on topics related to metabolic disorders and micronutrient deficiencies linked to autoimmune and chronic diseases. One of his studies, co-authored on the effects of MSG on human health, has become one of the most downloaded studies in recent scientific literature.
Dr. Tsoukalas is deeply involved in academic collaborations and research. He is working with La Trobe University in Melbourne on a clinical study investigating the impact of a Mediterranean diet, rich in omega-3 fats, on childhood asthma. He also collaborates with national and international university institutions to conduct research on autoimmune diseases, with the aim of identifying indicators for the prevention and treatment of diseases associated with modern lifestyles.
