Dr. Georgios Georgiou

Dr. Georgios Georgiou is an accomplished academic and researcher with extensive expertise in linguistics and speech-language disorders. He is currently an Assistant Professor in Linguistics at the University of Nicosia, Cyprus, where he has been a faculty member since 2022. Dr. Georgiou’s academic journey spans several prestigious institutions, having earned a diverse and in-depth education that includes a Postdoc in Speech-Language Disorders from the Cyprus University of Technology and a Postdoc in Linguistics from RUDN University in Moscow, Russia. His academic qualifications also include a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Cyprus, where he achieved excellent results, as well as an MA and BA in Education and Greek Philology, respectively, from the same university.

Dr. Georgiou’s professional career reflects a blend of teaching, research, and leadership roles. He has held various academic positions, including visiting senior lecturer in Linguistics at RUDN University, Moscow, and associate lecturer in linguistics at the University of Central Lancashire in Larnaca, Cyprus. He has also contributed significantly to the development of linguistic education through his roles at the University of Nicosia, where he teaches and leads research initiatives in the Department of Languages and Literature. As part of his responsibilities, Dr. Georgiou has served in several departmental leadership positions, including being the elected representative of the Department of Languages and Literature to the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Nicosia.

Dr. Georgiou is also an active researcher, specializing in linguistics and speech-language disorders. He has worked as a postdoctoral researcher in both Cyprus and Russia, focusing on neurolinguistics and cognitive research, as well as speech-language disorders. He is currently a scientific researcher in linguistics and speech-language disorders at the Scientific Laboratory of Neurolinguistic and Cognitive Research at RUDN University. His research has had significant contributions to the fields of education, linguistics, and language disorders, with a special emphasis on speech-language disorders in both theoretical and clinical contexts.

In addition to his academic and research achievements, Dr. Georgiou has taken on various professional service roles, including membership in several committees at the University of Nicosia, where he has played an instrumental role in enhancing the quality and effectiveness of the department’s academic programs. He has also contributed to the Erasmus+ program and served as an acting head of the Department Postgraduate Programs Committee. His involvement in curriculum development, program evaluation, and postgraduate education reflects his leadership in shaping the academic environment in Cyprus.
