Dr. Savas Constantoglou is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Cambridge, where he is contributing to the field of exoplanetary atmospheres. His research focuses on potentially habitable exoplanets, where he applies cutting-edge atmospheric models and advanced statistical techniques to deepen our understanding of exoplanet atmospheres. By developing and refining these models, Dr. Constantoglou is at the forefront of research that aims to uncover the conditions that may allow life to exist on planets beyond our solar system.
Dr. Constantoglou’s academic journey has been one of outstanding achievements. He earned his PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the University of Cambridge, where his thesis explored the composition and structure of exoplanet atmospheres. Under the supervision of Professor Nikku Madhusudhan, his work utilized advanced data analysis and retrieval techniques to explore the atmospheres of distant planets, a subject that has the potential to revolutionize our understanding of exoplanetary systems. His dedication to this research led to him completing his PhD with no thesis corrections, an impressive academic accomplishment.
Prior to his doctoral studies, Dr. Constantoglou completed a Master’s degree in Natural Sciences (Physics) at Cambridge, graduating with First Class honours. His master’s project focused on improving the accuracy of exoplanet measurements using the radial velocity method, where he worked on removing the magnetic Zeeman effect from high-resolution stellar spectra. His academic excellence was recognized early on, as he was admitted as a Junior Scholar at Trinity College, Cambridge in 2016, and later as a Senior Scholar in 2018, after earning a Double First in his Bachelor’s degree in Physics.
Beyond his academic work, Dr. Constantoglou has gained valuable experience in various research and professional settings. He served as a research assistant at the renowned Cavendish Laboratory in Cambridge, where he gained additional expertise in astrophysical research. Additionally, he worked as an intern at NETinfo Plc in Cyprus, where he further developed his practical skills in data science and technology. His military service as a Second Lieutenant in the National Guard of Cyprus also speaks to his leadership abilities and discipline.
Dr. Constantoglou’s commitment to advancing our knowledge of exoplanets and their potential to support life is evident in his impressive academic track record and research contributions. As a researcher at the University of Cambridge, he is working on some of the most exciting and important questions in modern astrophysics. His work promises to play a key role in the future of space exploration and our understanding of the universe.
